Note: Due to the sheer amount of evocative and telling photography coming out of Palestine, we have transitioned our weekly photograph features into daily photograph features and will continue uploading images on a daily basis until further notice.

Palestinians attend Friday prayers under the minaret of a mosque that was destroyed by an Israeli air strike.

Despite Israel’s greatest attempts to shut down and erase any normalcy in the lives of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the people of Gaza are resilient, resourceful, and courageous and will always find ways to out-maneuver and overcome the trials and tribulations thrown their way.

I see hope indeed. I see a minaret coming closer to the people so that the call to prayer may be heard easier. I see consolation. I see the minaret having given the call to prayer joining with people in bowing to pray. A minaret perhaps now 3 things. A place from which to call to prayer, shelter & a companion in prayer.
