Photo of the Week: The world shouts for Gaza

On the day this photograph was taken, at least 156 Palestinians were confirmed dead in the Gaza Strip with the death toll certain to rise in the coming days. Israeli air strikes on Gaza have intensified since the beginning of the latest assault on the territory on July 8. Well over 1,200 air strikes have been launched against Gaza’s civilian population, leading to widespread condemnation throughout the world.

Protests in England, Algeria, South Korea, the United States, Mexico, Sweden, and Pakistan were among the many hundreds of demonstrations all around the world that called on Israel to cease its bombardment of Palestinian homes and city centers.
