Thanks for doing us a favor and treating us like human beings

Three and half years into the blockade that has crippled Gaza’s infrastructure but not its people, Israel has relaxed its ‘security’ measures just enough to allow metal rods and pipes through the border. The equipment will be used to build a critically-needed sewage purification facility that will finally allow Gazans an alternative and healthier waste-disposal process.

It’s truly disappointing and disheartening to see how much proponents of Israel pride themselves on letting in materials necessary for the development of the besieged Gaza Strip. It’s as if they feel like they’re doing the Palestinians a favor by allowing them to purify their waste so as to avoid contaminating the environment in which they live.
