Israel and its military forces have a legitimate right to their self defense. The group "Students for Justice in Palestine" is one sided and biased. The United Nations allowed Israel to exist. You decide to "wipe them off the face of the Earth" to create a giant caliphate and that is supposed to be okay? I presume that if DePaul does not "give you your way" that you will retaliate with violence here in America and in Chicago and on the campus of DePaul. Semper Fi.

The announcement was made in a series of emails (see the post right after this one). However, DePaul has just released another statement retracting the original. Thanks for the clarification.

What I really don't understand is how anyone can actually think that being in Gaza has anything to do with Israel being hungry for land, power, and money.

For one, Israel is a tiny country, and the Gaza strip is a tiny piece of land. With or without Gaza, Israel is insignificant geographically. And in terms of power and money, it's not like Israel is gaining anything from Gaza. Ever since the Israeli government forced the Jews living in Gaza to leave their homes so that Arabs could have the land, there has been nothing to be gained from being involved with Gaza besides keeping terrorists out of Israel. There is NOT ONE incentive in keeping Gaza separated besides keeping Israelis safe.

@no2occupation ... What an insightful comment! Of course because Israelis eat hummus and falefel, which is a staple of ALL of its neighboring countries, then they MUST have no original past.

Zionist demonstrators (on the street in San Jose, California, several months ago) claimed that it is foolish to speak of Palestine and Palestinians because there is no such thing. Many millions of Christians have exhibited a similar disdain for Palestinians when they swallow whole the Book of Joshua in the Bible. Palestinians, sometimes called Philistines, obviously existed before Joshua and probably predated Abraham also. The Books of Genesis and Joshua (read them) tell a lot about the interactions between Abraham and his descendants, on the one hand, and other people, on the other hand. The Abrahamian ethic (such as it was) and the Zionist ethic (such as it is) both have shown much disdain for the worth of those other people. In my opinion and in my personal faith, the good aspects of the God of Israel do not include taking neighbors' land or other possessions by force or by trickery. So I think the real God hates the Zionism that we see violently acted out in Palestine now and historically.

Hummus along with falafel are PALESTINIAN foods to begin with. Not are the Isrealis stealing Palestinian land, they are trying to steal Palestinian culture also. That just proves Isreal has no original past to call its own.
